Chief Navigator’s Log - Stardate 5048.55

The Concord docked this morning at Outpost 17 and I have arrived to assume my position as chief navigator on board the Vesuvius. After my arrival I had the pleasure to meet some of my fellow navigators who were enjoying some r-and-r in the outpost’s bar. I am eager to get to know them and they are all just as exciting as I am to chart the space we are about to explore. A bit of them, I think, were surprised to find that I actually enjoy looking at charts on paper. I’m not sure if they find me to be a Luddite or just an eccentric. Perhaps both.

After a quick morning cup of coffee I go on board to meet the captain. I’ve only read about Captain Munster very briefly, but from what I have been told, he isn’t the martinet that Captain Jorel Endilev was while he commanded the Socrates. But then again, I cannot blame Andorians for running their vessels like army cohorts, and especially Endilev as he served in the Andorian Guard before his transfer to Starfleet. Which reminds me: I must thank him for the bottle of Andorian ale and his congratulations on my new assignment. I only hope that they give the grizzled old warrior a vessel more formidable and something to be reckoned with.
